You want a beautiful smile, but the idea of wearing braces or going to treatment as an adult for 18 months or more isn’t appealing, is it. According to studies, approximately 70% of the population needs orthodontic treatment. If debating between braces and Clear Aligners, you’re probably wondering: Which is more effective? Which is the most cost-effective? However, in the end, you want to choose the orthodontics treatment that will achieve the best results.

There are several choices available to adults in Sydney if they are looking for an alternative to braces or want to look at the different types of braces available.

Straight teeth with braces and straight teeth without braces are the two main options, which are further explained below. Both choices have the best results for a patient, please consult an Orthodontist to determine which is best for you.

Teeth straightening for Adults

Investing in orthodontic treatment to straighten teeth increases a patient’s general health and well-being as well as morale. Many adults were previously put off by the limited choices, which only included braces.

Invisalign have been available since late 1990’s while lingual braces have been used since late 1970’s. Through consulting with an orthodontist, every adult now has more choices to explore and choose from.

There are two types of orthodontic appliances used to shift teeth and jaws. They can be either fixed (bonded to the teeth) or removable appliances.

The most common Orthodontic appliances are Fixed appliances (Braces). Removable plates and clear sequential aligners are all examples of Removable orthodontic appliances.

Straight teeth without braces

Clear Sequential Aligners (Invisible Braces) have been very popular today in treating misaligned teeth and bite. Unlike conventional braces, it allows comfort and discreet look at once.

These removable appliances are almost invisible to the eye when used, and are normally thin.

There are many different types of Clear Sequential Aligners used in Orthodontics. We use the following in our practice: Invisalign, ClearCorrect, Spark, and SureSmile. Clear Sequential Aligners can act as a complete system and in many instances don’t need a follow-up treatment with braces.

Invisalign

Everyone’s heard of Invisalign. It is the most popular clear aligner treatment to straighten teeth without braces. Invisalign incorporates a series of clear aligners that are custom-made and can gradually shift your teeth to the desired position. With slight pressure exerted on your teeth, the aligners ensure minimal discomfort while still effectively straightening your teeth.

Following your appointment, our orthodontists will conduct a digital scan to establish a personalized treatment plan for you, using detailed 3-D images of your teeth to map out their movements over time. Your custom-made aligners are then fabricated using these images. Your aligners will need to be replaced with a new aligner every two weeks. With Invisalign and other Clear Aligners treatment, you can visualize each stage of the treatment process, from start to finish, giving you a better idea of how long it will take.

ClearCorrect

Similar to Invisalign, ClearCorrect aligners, like the name suggests, are clear aligners that are removable and work effectively in enhancing your smile. We will submit x-rays, 3-D images, and photos of your teeth, face, and smile to ClearCorrect once we have decided that ClearCorrect is the best for your unique treatment goals and needs

We collaborate closely with ClearCorrect to create a treatment plan customized for you. Then, a series of clear and custom-made aligners will be given to you (for a set period) and are ready to use in correcting the misalignment of your teeth. With a thin and clearer look, ClearCorrect aligners offer aesthetics and are also stain-resistant.

SPARK

Another option to straighten your teeth without braces is SPARK’s custom aligners. With 3-D imaging, SPARK’s treatment allows clearer presentations of your desired outcome. Each stage and set of aligners are prepared carefully for your teeth alignment progress.

SPARK aligners are made with TruGen, which proves to be more comfortable, clear and stains less. With SPARK and other Clear Aligners treatments, our Orthodontists will also show if there are any requirements of attachments on your teeth to move the teeth predictably or the need for polishing of your teeth (IPR), as well as if elastics need to be worn as a follow-up treatment along with Clear Sequential Aligners.

Straight teeth without braces cost?

Although removable plates and functional appliances can shift teeth and jaws, they do not have full control over final tooth movements and would need the use of Fixed appliances to move the teeth to their final positions. Clear sequential aligners, on the other hand, can be used as a full system to shift teeth to their final positions, similar to braces. Clear aligners treatment like Invisalign costs in Sydney vary between $4500 and $9500 depending on the complexity of the case.

Straight teeth with braces

While invisible braces are quite the trend nowadays, conventional braces are still commonly used to straighten teeth.

They remain a viable and cost-effective option for mild to complex misalignment. Kids, teenagers, and adults are all eligible for treatments with traditional, fixed braces.

Traditional braces are also proven to be less time-consuming in treating misaligned teeth. They all work similarly but the differences are in the placement of either Labial (outer aspect) or Lingual (towards the tongue), and/or whether it is Metallic or Ceramic.

Metal Braces

Metal braces are the most common type of traditional braces used in fixing up to the most complex issues of teeth and jaws misalignment. Metal braces consist of sturdy metal brackets  that are attached to your teeth with a special adhesive to stick the brackets to the teeth.

The wires are held on the brackets (braces) with an elastic tie or a module to the teeth. Regular adjustments and maintenance of oral hygiene are essential processes with this particular treatment.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are quite similar to metal braces, but with clearer-toned brackets making them less visible.

Not only does it look discreet, but Ceramic braces are also comfortable and less irritating on the cheeks and gums. Making it the perfect choice for users that are in college or working environments who want to straighten their teeth but still keep it aesthetically pleasing.

Lingual Braces

With the same compositions as Metal braces, Lingual braces only differ in the site they are attached, to the back or side of the teeth. They are practically invisible as they are hidden behind your teeth.

Its custom-made arch wires are precisely programmed with your specific prescription. They are not only useful in fixing most bite problems, but Lingual braces also provide reliable outcomes.

Straight teeth with braces cost

In Sydney, Metal Braces can cost anywhere from $4500 to $9000, while Ceramic Braces can be more costly with a range from $5000 to $9500.

A single arch of Lingual Braces costs around $7500, with a complete treatment costing around $12500. On the other hand, clear aligners treatment like Invisalign costs between $4500 and $9500.
